AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF AMORY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS ANNUALLY TO THE MONROE COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The governing authorities of the City of Amory, Mississippi, in their discretion, may contribute funds annually in an amount not to exceed Forty-Eight Thousand One Hundred Forty Dollars ($48,140.00) to the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce and/or its successors, for the purpose of promoting local economic development, including seeking new industrial development and supporting existing industrial and business entities.  Such contributions shall be paid as follows by certain City of Amory Departments and City of Amory:

          (a)  The City of Amory Electric Department shall pay Two Thousand Two Hundred Twenty Dollars ($2,220.00) per month, which is Twenty-six Thousand Six Hundred Forty Dollars ($26,640.00) annually;

          (b)  The City of Amory Water Department shall pay Eight Hundred Thirty-three Dollars and Thirty-three Cents ($833.33) per month, which is Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) annually; and

          (c)  The City of Amory shall pay Nine Hundred Fifty-eight Dollars and Thirty-three Cents ($958.33) per month, which is Eleven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($11,500.00) annually.

     (2)  The provisions of this section shall be repealed on July 1, 2007.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
