AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH MISSISSIPPI, TO PURCHASE LAND TO CONSTRUCT AN ANIMAL SHELTER AND FACILITIES TO CARRY OUT THE SOCIETY'S FUNCTIONS AND  PUBLIC SERVICES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Gulfport, Mississippi, in their discretion, may contribute to the capital building fund of the Humane Society of South Mississippi, a not-for-profit corporation, in the amount of Sixty Thousand  Dollars ($60,000.00) to be appropriated annually for a period of five (5) years for the acquisition of land in Gulfport, Mississippi, and construction thereon of modern and expansive facilities to house its animal shelter to receive and care for stray, lost and unclaimed animals in a humane way, and to carry out all of the Humane Society's needed functions and public services.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
