AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF LONG BEACH, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH MISSISSIPPI, TO PURCHASE LAND TO CONSTRUCT AN ANIMAL SHELTER AND FACILITIES TO CARRY OUT THE SOCIETY'S FUNCTIONS AND PUBLIC SERVICES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Long Beach, Mississippi, in their discretion, may contribute the amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) annually for five (5) calendar years to the capital building fund of the Humane Society of South Mississippi, a not-for-profit corporation, for the acquisition of land in Harrison County, Mississippi, and construction thereon of modern and expansive facilities to house its animal shelter to receive and care for stray, lost and unclaimed animals in a humane way, and to carry out all of the Humane Society's needed functions and public services.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
