House Bill 1337

AN ACT TO REQUIRE EACH PUBLIC SCHOOL TO INCLUDE WITHIN THEIR PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES NOT LESS THAN TWELVE WEEKS EACH SCHOOL YEAR FOR HEALTH INSTRUCTION, WHICH SHALL INCLUDE INSTRUCTION ON SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS OF BIOTERRORISM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  In addition to the curriculum otherwise required by law or by the State Board of Education to be taught in the public schools of this state, each public school shall include within their physical education classes not less than twelve (12) weeks each school year for health instruction, which shall include instruction on significant aspects of bioterrorism.

     SECTION 2.  Section 1 of this act shall be codified as a separate code section in Chapter 13, Title 37, Mississippi Code of 1972.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2005.
