AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-61-1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT THE FISCAL YEAR OF ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS BEGIN ON OCTOBER 1 AND END ON SEPTEMBER 30; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 37-61-1, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
37-61-1. Beginning on October 1, 2006, and each year thereafter, the "fiscal year" of all school districts of this state shall commence on October 1 and end on September 30 of each year. The "scholastic year" of the public schools of this state shall likewise commence on July 1 and end on June 30 of each year.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2005.
