AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE MUNICIPALITIES AND COUNTIES TO PAY ANY MUNICIPAL OR COUNTY OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE WHO IS ACTIVATED FOR FEDERALLY FUNDED MILITARY DUTY THE DIFFERENCE, OR ANY PORTION THEREOF, BETWEEN HIS REGULAR PAY AND HIS MILITARY PAY RECEIVED DURING ACTIVE DUTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of each municipality and county, in their discretion, may pay any officer or employee of the municipality or county who is activated for federally funded military duty the difference, or any portion thereof, between his regular pay and the military pay received during all or any part of his term of active federally funded duty.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
