A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE 223RD ENGINEER BATTALION OF THE MISSISSIPPI ARMY NATIONAL GUARD UPON ITS RETURN FROM SERVICE IN IRAQ.

     WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 15, 2004, there will be an Appreciation Celebration at the Pittsboro Multipurpose Center in Pittsboro, Mississippi, for the 223rd Engineer Battalion of the Mississippi Army National Guard upon its return from service in Iraq; and

     WHEREAS, this redeployment from Iraq is the culmination of over 12 months of an incredibly high operation tempo for the soldiers of this great battalion; and 

     WHEREAS, their tour of duty in Iraq has demonstrated the professionalism, dedication and selflessness of the 223rd Engineer Battalion soldiers and families; and

     WHEREAS, this nation will never truly understand the debt that is owed to the soldiers and families of this great battalion; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride and humility that we recognize and commend the heroic actions and dedicated service of these brave Mississippi soldiers:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the 223rd Engineer Battalion of the Mississippi Army National Guard upon its return from service in Iraq. 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the 223rd Engineer Battalion of the Mississippi Army National Guard and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
