A RESOLUTION COMMENDING WARREN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL LEGENDARY FOOTBALL COACH ROBERT MORGAN ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 36 SEASONS.

     WHEREAS, Robert Morgan has retired as longtime Warren Central High School Football Coach; and

     WHEREAS, for 36 seasons, Robert Morgan has been a fixture on the Warren Central sidelines; and

     WHEREAS, he has been on the Vikings' staff since 1968.  As Head Coach from 1985-2003, he won 167 games, made the Class 5A playoffs all 19 seasons and claimed two 5A State Championships in 1988 and 1994; and

     WHEREAS, it won't seem the same on August 27, 2004, when the Vikings kick off the 2004 season against Southaven in the 41st Red Carpet Bowl Classic at Vicksburg; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Morgan has made a positive impact on the lives of countless young men, has made the Warren Central program one of the premier football programs in the state, and it is with great pride that we recognize the contributions of this teacher and coach who has brought honor to his school, his community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Warren Central High School's legendary football Coach Robert Morgan on the occasion of his retirement, and extend to him and his family the best wishes of the Senate on his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Morgan, forwarded to Warren Central Director of Athletics Lum Wright, Jr., and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
