A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MISS CHRISTINA MYERS UPON BEING NAMED MISSISSIPPI JUNIOR MISS 2004.

     WHEREAS, Miss Christina Myers, daughter of Mr. Brad and Mrs. Bobbie Jo Myers of Ridgeland, Mississippi, was crowned Mississippi Junior Miss 2004 after competing in the 2004 Mississippi Junior Miss Program where she was overall winner in the talent and poise divisions; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Myers, a very active and outgoing Senior at Ridgeland High School, was crowned 2003-2004 Homecoming Queen, and maintains the fourth highest GPA in her class; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Myers' school activities at Ridgeland High include participation in numerous clubs and organizations, such as School Ambassador, Beta Club, Bible Study President and Etc. Show Choir; and

     WHEREAS, having strong community involvements, Miss Myers additionally contributes her time, effort and resources to Actor's Playhouse Performing Arts Company, Big Brother/Big Sister Mentoring Program, Repeat Performance Dance Company, Bob Westbrook Singers, Orchard Nursing Home volunteer, Junior Auxiliary Crowne Club, Madison-Ridgeland Softball League, Junior Diplomat to the Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce and F.A.Y.S. Seventh Grade Girls Accountability Group Leader; and

     WHEREAS, a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, Miss Myers is adamant about her religious and spiritual life, participating in the Youth Praise Band, serves as a Campus Life Ministry Student Leader, is Prayer Group Leader for Eleventh and Twelfth Grades and Vacation Bible School volunteer; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Myers' accomplishments have not just begun, for she has received countless other honors and awards including Madison County Junior Miss 2004, where she captured awards in the interview, fitness, Spirit of Junior Miss and talent divisions; DAR Good Citizenship Award; WLBT-TV3 Terrific Teen; Junior Class Favorite; Sophomore Student of the Month 2002; Show Choir Award 2003; and ACDA Honors Choir; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Myers will serve as Mississippi's Junior Miss ambassador for one year, representing the Magnolia State's warmth, hospitality and dignified excellence to everyone she meets; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the special achievements of this beautiful and talented young lady, who has brought honor to her school, her community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Miss Christina Myers upon being named Mississippi Junior Miss 2004 and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Miss Christina Myers and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
