AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS FOR PROGRAMS AND THE SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2004.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Working Cash-Stabilization Reserve Fund, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2004..............$   14,573,934.00.

     SECTION 2.  Of the funds appropriated under the provisions of Section 1, One Million One Hundred Eighty-eight Thousand Dollars ($1,188,000.00) shall be used to pay the expenses of counties for holding state prisoners in county jails, Three Million Three Hundred Twenty-three Thousand Three Dollars ($3,323,003.00) shall be used to pay the expenses of private prisons, Two Million One Hundred Sixty-nine Thousand Nine Hundred Dollars ($2,169,900.00) shall be used to pay the expenses of regional prisons, Two Million Seven Hundred Seventeen Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-two Dollars ($2,717,692.00) shall be used to pay the expenses for medical services, and Five Million One Hundred Seventy-five Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-nine Dollars($5,175,339.00) shall be used for support and maintenance.

     SECTION 3.  The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
