AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-7-90, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REVISE POSSESSION OF PADDLEFISH VIOLATIONS AND PROVIDE EXCEPTION FOR LAWFULLY TAKEN PADDLEFISH; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 49-7-90, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     49-7-90.  Any person who takes or possesses a paddlefish or parts thereof, whether coming from within or from outside the state, in violation of law or who commits waste by discarding any parts of a paddlefish into the waters of this state during the closed season, isguilty of a Class I violation and may be punished as provided in Section 49-7-141.  During the closed season, a person may possess lawfully taken and processed paddlefish eggs obtained from a licensed wholesale and retail outlet.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
