AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE LICENSE TAG COMMISSION TO INCLUDE GENERAL PROVISIONS IN ANY CONTRACT ENTERED INTO FOR THE PURCHASE OF LICENSE TAGS THAT AUTHORIZE THE REDUCTION OF THE AMOUNT PAID UNDER THE CONTRACT IF THE VENDOR ESTABLISHES INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS IN CONNECTION WITH ITS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES UNDER THE CONTRACT THAT GENERATE REVENUE FOR THE STATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The following provision shall be codified as Section 27-19-156, Mississippi Code of 1972:

     23-19-156.  The License Tag Commission may include general provisions in any contract entered into under Section 27-19-155 that authorize the reduction of the amount paid under the contract if the vendor establishes innovative programs in connection with its duties and responsibilities under the contract that generate revenue for the state.  Revenue generating programs proposed by a vendor shall be approved by the License Tag Commission prior to their implementation and the commission may place such restrictions on such programs as it considers proper.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2004.
