AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-3-67, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE THE DEDUCTION OF UNION DUES FROM MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES' SALARIES UPON WRITTEN REQUEST OF THE EMPLOYEE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 25-3-67, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     25-3-67.  The governing authorities of any municipality may, within their discretion, deduct from the salary of any individual municipal employee an amount to be deposited with the municipal credit union, contributions for the United Way, life, health and accident insurance, United States Savings Bonds and dues payable because of the membership of such employee in any union organization or association, if a request for such deductions is made in writing by the employee.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2004.
