House Resolution 126

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE EAST CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL LADY HORNETS FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM UPON ITS OUTSTANDING 2003-2004 SEASON AND WINNING ITS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the East Central High School Lady Hornets Fast-pitch Softball Team finished the 2003-2004 season with a remarkable record of 26 wins, only 11 losses and 2 ties; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets won the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A State Championship by defeating Neshoba Central High School 4-0; and

WHEREAS, showcasing immense talent, the Hornets have brought great honor and pride to East Central High School by securing their fourth consecutive state championship and fifth consecutive South State and Division 7, District 8 Championships; and

WHEREAS, many members of the team have received much recognition for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season, including the naming of Lindsay Long, Lauren Harger, Whitley Wells, Tenisa Dock, Ruth Stewart and Christy Lyon to the All-District Team, the selection of Lauren Harger and Tenisa Dock to the All-State Team, the selection of Tenisa Dock as most valuable player, the naming of Lindsay Long and Lauren Harger as recipients of the pitching award, the selection of Whitley Wells as best offensive player and Tenisa Dock as best defensive player and the naming of Ruth Stewart as the recipient of the scholastic and Hornets awards; and

Whereas, the Lady Hornets have been superbly coached and inspired this season by Head Coach Tracy Box, and Assistant Coaches Karen Dock and Kelli Clark, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to East Central High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the East Central High School Lady Hornets Fast-pitch Softball Team and their coaches for their outstanding 2003-2004 season, for winning the Class 4A Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to East Central High School, Head Coach Tracy Box, Assistant Coaches Karen Dock and Kelli Clark and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
