A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE RETIRING TEACHERS OF THE LEFLORE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THEIR YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, the following persons will retire from the Leflore County School District in 2004 after giving many years of their time and service to the youth and the citizens of Leflore County:  Josie Howard Arrington, teacher; Eddie Bryson III, teacher; Roy Catchings, teacher; Willie Lewis Hayes, teacher; Joe L. McCoy, teacher; Dorothy Moore, teacher; and Dollie Mae Purnell, teacher; and

     WHEREAS, the retiring employees of the Leflore County School District are responsible for having prepared and groomed an entire generation of future doctors, lawyers, nurses, politicians, teachers, leaders, role models and other hard-working citizens who have benefited from the committed service of those who are retiring; and

     WHEREAS, through tireless dedication and loving patience, the retiring employees of the Leflore County School District have made Mississippi a greater state by educating our children to become productive, God-fearing, responsible citizens who will write the next chapter in the book of Mississippi's history; and

     WHEREAS, the entire citizenry of the State of Mississippi owes an immeasurable debt to the retirees of the Leflore County School District, who have ensured that students received an education which will help to make certain their success for the future; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend excellence, especially when evidenced by individuals who have dedicated so many years of their lives to developing and cultivating the minds of the young Mississippians with whom they have come in contact during their illustrious careers:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize, commend and congratulate the teachers of the Leflore County School District who will retire in 2004 after giving so many years of dedicated service to educating the youth of this great state and wish them much success in all their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Board of Trustees of the Leflore County School District, each of the retirees and the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
