House Resolution 103

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE HONORABLE JUDGE JOE LEE UPON BEING NAMED LAWYER OF THE YEAR BY THE MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE SCHOOL OF LAW.

     WHEREAS, the Honorable Judge Joe Lee of the Mississippi Court of Appeals was named Lawyer of the Year for 2004 by the Mississippi College School of Law at the institution's Annual Law Day Banquet Ceremonies held on Friday, April 16, 2004; and

     WHEREAS, as an undergraduate, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey College and earned his bachelor of science degree from William Carey College in 1969; and

     WHEREAS, a 1973 graduate of the Jackson School of Law, now the Mississippi College School of Law, Judge Lee was honored for his continued support with the law school, as well as providing mentorship for the school's moot court program; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Lee has been very instrumental in accommodating the students of Mississippi College School of Law in the Moot Court Appellate Advocacy Competition, generously sharing advice and counsel as to how to improve their appellate advocacy skills; and

     WHEREAS, now in his second term on the Court of Appeals, having served since January 1999, Judge Lee also taught as an adjunct professor of business law at the Gulfport campus of William Carey College from 1995-1999; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the outstanding works and contributions of our judicial officers who give back to community and state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Honorable Judge Joe Lee upon being named Lawyer of the Year for 2004 by the Mississippi College School of Law and extend our heartiest wishes for continued success in all his future professional endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Judge Lee and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
