A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LAMAR FOUNDATION HIGH SCHOOL RAIDERS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2003 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Lamar Foundation High School Football Team finished the 2003 season with an exceptional record of 11 wins and 2 losses; and

     WHEREAS, the Lamar Raiders played Lee Academy for the first round of playoffs and were victorious with a score of 8-7; and

     WHEREAS, following the successful win over Lee Academy, the Raiders went on to defeat Madison Ridgeland Academy becoming the State Champions with an impressive win of 48-7; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Mac Barnes superbly coached and inspired the Raiders and has broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, along with the excellent coaching of Coach Barnes, the Raiders were also aided by assistant coaches, Jud Gartman and William McNeal, and manager, Danel Gardner; and

     WHEREAS, the Raiders winning team consists of the following dedicated, talented and hard working team members:  Dylan Anderson, Jody Acosta, Daniel Bennett, Jason Braud, Will Carter, Reauze Cole, Will Craven, Tommy Edgerton, Tyler Evans, Brett Feldman, David Haggard, Brannon Harrison, Nathan Harrison, Tommy Horne, Ben Kahlmus, Matt Loeb, Will Loeb, Jeremiah Lovett, Paul Mayfield, John Michael McDonald, Brian Mitchell, Drew Moffett, Kemp Mosley, Blake Olmstead, Scott Owen, Jeff Parke, Parker Payne, Daniel Poole, Lance Price, Travis Raley, Alston Rush, Lane Rush, Lowry Rush, Dustin Rivers, Zach Schultz, Justin Smith, Eric Stubbs, Zeb Swain, Jeff Tate, Roland Terry, Randy Boyd Thompson, Alex Touchstone, Vaughan Waters and Teddy Yeatman; and

     WHEREAS, the Lamar Foundation High School Raiders have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a superb degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring great honor to Lamar Foundation High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when displayed by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Lamar Foundation High School Raiders Football Team and Coach Mac Barnes for their outstanding 2003 season, for winning the State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Lamar Foundation High School, Coach Mac Barnes and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
