A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF EDWARD BRADLEY SHEARER, III, AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Edward Bradley Shearer, III, born March 15, 1935, in Houston, Mississippi, to the late Edward Boyd and Dolly Ruth Shearer, departed this earthly life on Monday, December 29, 2003, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, an upstanding citizen of the Water Valley, Mississippi, community, Mr. Shearer was a retired United States Army veteran who contributed his many talents and services to the citizens of Water Valley in his capacity as editor and publisher of the North Mississippi Herald; and

     WHEREAS, committed to his service to God and to his fellowman, Mr. Shearer was a faithful member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, where he served as music director, in addition to being a contributor of time and services to numerous organizations within the church; and

     WHEREAS, his life touched the hearts of many, and his legacy as editor and publisher of the North Mississippi Herald is far reaching in monumental aspects; and

     WHEREAS, though he has departed this earthly life, his memory will forever be cherished by his loved ones, including:  his wife, Betty Kilgore Shearer; son, Dr. James E. Shearer; daughter-in-law, Celeste E. Shearer; brothers, Paul Milton Shearer and John Thomas Shearer; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the lives of such outstanding Mississippians as Mr. Shearer, whose life was a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who were privileged to experience his light of Christianity and humanity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Mr. Edward Bradley Shearer and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to his wife, Mrs. Betty Kilgore Shearer, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
