House Resolution 68

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND WORKS OF LONNIE CHARLES JOHNSON AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Lonnie Charles Johnson was born on February 20, 1949, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to the late Lonnie G. Johnson and Tencie L. Johnson; and

     WHEREAS, this great man departed this life on March 13, 2004; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was a member of the Rowan High School Class of 1969; and

     WHEREAS, also in 1969, he began his career at BellSouth and worked there a number of years before working at Sunbeam Oyster; and

     WHEREAS, to cherish his memory, he leaves five children, Angela Handley, Shaneka Ratcliff, Adrianne Johnson, Michael Hutchins and Jason Joyner and three grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, his four sisters, Abbie Crosby, Ruby Roberts, Ruth Madison and Stephanie Curtis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, Jenilla Windham will also cherish his memory; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to pay tribute to exemplary Mississippians such as Lonnie Charles Johnson, who devoted his life to his family:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we hereby commend the life and works of Lonnie Charles Johnson and express  deepest sympathy upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Lonnie Charles Johnson and to the Capitol Press Corps.
