A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. DARRIS PLAXTON O'QUINN UPON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 38 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU FEDERATION.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Darris Plaxton O'Quinn is retiring as District Manager for the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation after 38 years of dedicated service; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. O'Quinn was born on a 120 acre row crop and dairy farm in Marion County on July 28, 1939; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from Columbia High School, Mr. O'Quinn attended and graduated from Pearl River Community College and Mississippi State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree and a master's degree in agriculture; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. O'Quinn began his 38-year career with the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation on February 1, 1966, as a District Fieldman in the southeast district, which at that time had a total of 4,800 member families; and

     WHEREAS, with his district leading the state, Mr. O'Quinn has served as District Manager for many years with currently over 40,000 member families; and

     WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. O'Quinn is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Purvis, Mississippi, where he has served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and supervisor, and a member of the Hospitality Committee; and

     WHEREAS, in addition, Mr. O'Quinn has been an active member of the Future Farmers of America Alumni Association and a member of the 4-H Club Advisory Council; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. O'Quinn has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his lovely wife of more than 40 years, the former Mary Kathryn Hall; and their four children, Donna, Darrell, Denise and Donald, who predeceased his parents; and four grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding service of hard-working Mississippians such as Mr. O'Quinn:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mr. Darris Plaxton O'Quinn upon his retirement after 38 years of dedicated service to the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Darris Plaxton O'Quinn and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
