House Resolution 64

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING DIANE ASHLEY, LISA DAVIS, ELIZABETH HAWTHORNE, GLORIA PURNELL AND EMILY LOFLIN FOR THEIR MANY HOURS OF DEDICATION AND HARD WORK IN HONORING THE RESIDENTS OF THE MISSISSIPPI VETERANS NURSING HOME.

WHEREAS, Diane Ashley, Lisa Davis, Elizabeth Hawthorne, Gloria Purnell and Emily Loflin have dedicated untold hours working to honor the residents of the Mississippi Veterans Nursing Home located in Jackson, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, these staff members of the Mississippi House of Representatives' Clerk's Office have coordinated and planned an annual event for Valentine's Day to honor the veterans of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, these ladies have collected various items, promoted and distributed Valentine's Day gifts for the Mississippi veterans; and

WHEREAS, members and staff of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi have been very generous in their donations of items to go in the "goodie bags" put together by the ladies who work in the Clerk's Office; and

WHEREAS, for each of the past three years, more than 100 "goodie bags" have been distributed by members of the House of Representatives on their annual visit to the Mississippi Veterans Nursing Home; and

WHEREAS, in addition, the ladies of the Clerk's Office have planned a musical program at the Veterans Nursing Home to be given at the time of the distribution of the "goodie bags" to the veterans, with many members of the Mississippi House of Representatives participating in the musical event; and

WHEREAS, dozens of Mississippi military veterans have been the recipients of this goodwill offered by the Mississippi House of Representatives' members and staff because of their faithful service to the United States of America during periods of conflict across the world; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend the dedication of Diane Ashley, Lisa Davis, Elizabeth Hawthorne, Gloria Purnell and Emily Loflin to Mississippi's military veterans and their unwavering wish to make a brighter day for our Mississippi military veterans.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Diane Ashley, Lisa Davis, Elizabeth Hawthorne, Gloria Purnell and Emily Loflin.
