A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF PATRICK DREW DENNEY AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Patrick Drew Denny, born January 10, 1986, to Darrell and Janna Germany Denny, departed this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2003, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, an eleventh grade student at Lamar High School in Meridian, Mississippi, Patrick was a three-year letterman in football and second team All-District in 2002; and

     WHEREAS, tapped as defensive lineman of the year for 2002, and a two-time winner of The Meridian Star Player of the Week, Patrick was a hard worker and was well liked throughout the school; and

     WHEREAS, a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Patrick was a longtime Boy Scout and was one project shy of receiving his Eagle Scout ranking; and

     WHEREAS, Patrick enjoyed the love, support and encouragement of his family in all his endeavors, and forever will his memory live on in the hearts, minds and spirits of his parents, Darrell and Janna Denney, and sister, Hope Denney; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to pay special tribute to such young outstanding individuals as Patrick, whose sportsmanship was just as evident off the gridiron as it was on the gridiron:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Patrick Drew Denney upon his passing and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Darrell and Janna Denney, Lamar School Athletic Department and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
