A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SAINT STANISLAUS ROCKACHAWS SOCCER TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2003-2004 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Saint Stanislaus Rockachaws Soccer Team finished the 2003-2004 season with a remarkable record of 24 wins, 3 losses and one tie; and

     WHEREAS, throughout the regular season and playoffs, the Rockachaws fought and defeated many well-contended teams, and captured the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 4A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the 2003-2004 team for the Saint Stanislaus Rockachaws made history by making its fourteenth consecutive appearance in the state playoffs, capturing the school's fourth consecutive division championship, third consecutive Class 4A South State Championship and second consecutive Class 4A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Rockachaws in playoffs managed to competitively prevent all their opponents from scoring, defeating Petal 5-0, George County 8-0, West Jones 5-0 and Pearl 2-0, and finishing the season with an undefeated division record of 10-0, 18 shutouts, scoring 129 goals and allowing only 16; and

     WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of their fine, dedicated and superior play and their hard work this season, including the naming of Beau Brodtmann as Class 4A Boys Soccer Co-player of the Year, the selection of Beau Brodtmann, Patrick Donohoe, Michael Kivlan and Sean Olsen to the All-State First Team, the naming of Andrew Smith-Parker, Heath Hansell and Josh Lingsch to the All-State Second Team and the naming of Michael Kivlan as Division 8-4A Boys Soccer Player of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, the Saint Stanislaus Rockachaws have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Andy Kivlan, Assistant Coaches Jimmy Carrera and Vince Casper and team manager Scott Wilson, who have broadened the Rockachaws' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Kivlan has brought additional honor to himself and to St. Stanislaus by being selected as Division 8-4A Coach of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, the Rockachaws have been supported in their athletic endeavors and can attribute much of their success to the many parents, fans and supporters whose moral and spiritual encouragement have remained fervent throughout the season; and

     WHEREAS, the Rockachaws have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Saint Stanislaus; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Saint Stanislaus Rockachaws Soccer Team and their coaches, Head Coach Andy Kivlan, Assistant Coaches Jimmy Carrera and Vince Casper and team manager Scott Wilson for their phenomenal 2003-2004 season, for winning the MHSAA Class 4A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Saint Stanislaus, Head Coach Andy Kivlan, Assistant Coaches Jimmy Carrera and Vince Casper, team manager Scott Wilson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
