A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE FALKNER HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING SQUAD ON BEING SELECTED AS 2002 CLASS 1A SMALL STATE CHAMPIONS.
WHEREAS, the Falkner High School Cheerleading Squad finished the 2002 season of cheerleading competition with an outstanding record of accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, the Falkner High School Cheerleaders did very well in competition, winning the 2002 Class 1A Small Regional Cheerleading Champions and the 2002 Class 1A Small State Cheerleading Champions; and
WHEREAS, the 2002 Falkner High School Cheerleaders included Jenna Robertson, Tiffany Weatherly, Jessica Braddock, Meredith Braddock, Laken Brock, Brittney Clemer, Kayla Gunn, Angela Mensi, Yolanda Prather, Katy Rutherford, Kristy Rutherford and Holly Rutherford; and
WHEREAS, the Falkner High School Cheerleaders were superbly coached and inspired by Coach Karen Waldon, who broadened the cheerleaders' knowledge of the cheerleading competition and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the 2002 Falkner High School Cheerleaders spent numerous hours per week practicing their elite stunts, dance routines and cheers in addition to cheering at sporting events; and
WHEREAS, the Falkner High School Cheerleaders developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflected great credit upon the individual cheerleaders and their coach and brought great honor to Falkner High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we hereby commend and congratulate the Falkner High School Cheerleaders and Coach Karen Waldon, for being selected the 2002 Class 1A Small State Cheerleading Champions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Falkner High School, Coach Karen Waldon and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
