A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THADS SHARON BRIDGES, SR., AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Thads Sharon Bridges, born July 28, 1949, in Houston, Texas, departed this earthly life causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, the first Black banker in the State of Mississippi, Mr. Bridges was Chief Financial Officer of the Arenoa C. Mattory Community Health Center; and

     WHRERAS, instrumental in the organization and start up of several business organizations such as the National Business Leader, he used his expertise to move into Health Care Industrial and served as Deposit Guaranty National Bank's financial advisor during his 15 years of employment with the establishment; and

     WHEREAS, he was a devoted member of the New Fellowship Baptism Church, where he served as minority leader and trustee, in addition to being a 33rd degree Mason and a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Bridges was married to the former Betty Joyce Mathis and they were blessed with four children:  Thads, Jr., Nicholas, Michael and Candice, all of whom will miss him dearly but will cherish his memory eternally; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the lives of such outstanding individuals as Mr. Bridges, whose life and accomplishments served as a beacon of hope and inspiration:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Thads Sharon Bridges, Sr., and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Bridges and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
