House Concurrent Resolution 22

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. JACK ALFRED PACE FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Jack Alfred Pace, a native of Philadelphia, Mississippi, has devoted many years of service to the people of his community; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from Philadelphia High School, Mr. Pace received an athletic scholarship to East Central Community College and attended Southern Mississippi Veterans Administration School; and

     WHEREAS, a loyal patriot to his country, Mr. Pace served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in World War II in the European Theater, serving from 1942 to 1946; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Pace founded Pace Oil Company, a wholesale gas, oil and tire company, in 1946; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Pace has been an active member of his community throughout the years, including his membership in state and local organizations such as Mason, Shriner, American Legion, VFW, Lions Club, MEC, Mississippi Oil Jobbers, PTA, SE Division of the American Red Cross, Magee Touchdown Club, Magee Civic Club and the Chamber of Commerce; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Pace served the Mississippi Legislature as a member of the State Senate from 1960 to 1964 and from 1968 to 1972, serving on various committees including Finance and Oil and Gas; and

     WHEREAS, a quiet philanthropist, Mr. Pace continually helps those in need and along with his wife has established the Jack and Mary Louise Pace Scholarship for deserving students in Scott and Simpson Counties at the University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Pace has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his wife of 54 years, the late Mary Louise Pace; their children, Jacqueline and Al Gordy and Alfred and Kim Pace; four grandchildren, Kyle and Jennifer Gordy, Kami and Bryce Wert, Hugh Pace and Holly Pace; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians such as Mr. Pace, who has dedicated his life to improving the quality of life of those within his community:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Mr. Jack Alfred Pace for his many years of outstanding service and generosity and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Jack Alfred Pace and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
