AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY TO EXPEND MONIES DERIVED FROM AD VALOREM PROPERTY TAXES ON PRIVATE CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES IN TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAVING GRAVEL PUBLIC ROADS OF THE COUNTY OR FOR PAYING OR MAKING PAYMENTS ON CERTAIN NOTES ISSUED OR TO BE ISSUED BY THE COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Tallahatchie County, in its discretion, may expend monies derived from ad valorem property taxes from private correctional facilities in Tallahatchie County for the following purposes:

          (a)  To pave gravel public roads of the county, which expenditures may include, but are not limited to, payment for materials, supplies, equipment, services or other necessary or desirable materials, services or things to accomplish the paving of such roads;

          (b)  To pay or make payments on notes of Tallahatchie County issued under Section 17-21-51 et seq., Mississippi Code of 1972; and

          (c)  To pay or make payments on notes or bonds of Tallahatchie County issued under Section 19-5-21 et seq., Mississippi Code of 1972.

     (2)  The authority granted under subsection (1) of this section shall be supplemental to any other authority granted to Tallahatchie County by law including, but not limited to, Chapter No. 913, Local and Private Laws of 1999.   

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
