AN ACT TO CREATE AN INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM INITIATIVE THAT PROVIDES CERTAIN ASSISTANCE FOR STUDENTS AT COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES TO RECEIVE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  There is created an Institutional Training Program Initiative that provides certain assistance for students in one (1) year or two (2) year programs at community and junior colleges to receive workforce development training.  The training programs shall provide for tuition, books, supplies, a modest stipend for transportation, and child care, where applicable.  The training program selected by a student who is eligible for assistance must be one where there is a demonstrated need for that type of job.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2004.
