     AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE DISPLAY OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AND OUR NATIONAL MOTTO "IN GOD WE TRUST" IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of every political subdivision in the state are authorized, in their discretion, to display the Ten Commandments and our national motto of "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the Beatitudes as stated in the Gospel of Matthew on an appropriately framed background in any public building.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2004.
