AN ACT TO REQUIRE EMPLOYERS THAT RENT FACTORY-BUILT HOMES TO THEIR EMPLOYEES TO MAINTAIN THE FACTORY-BUILT HOMES IN ACCORDANCE WITH CERTAIN FEDERAL STANDARDS AND ANY STANDARDS SET FORTH BY THE MISSISSIPPI COMMISSIONER OF INSURANCE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Employers that rent factory-built homes, as defined in Section 75-49-3, to their employees shall maintain the homes in accordance with the Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (24 CFR Section 3280), established by the Secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in accordance with the National Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards Act of 1974, as amended (42 USCS 5401 et seq.), such amendments to the standards as are adopted by the Secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development after July 1, 1992, and any standards set forth by the Mississippi Commissioner of Insurance.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2004.
