AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO

                             House Bill NO. 971

                             By Senator(s) Nunnelee

     AMEND by inserting after line 61 the following:

          (n)  Any death of an unborn child of twenty (20) weeks or more gestational age resulting from or believed to result from the use by the mother of any illegal controlled substance during the mother's pregnancy with the child in question.

     FURTHER, AMEND by striking lines 18 and 19, inserting in lieu thereof the following:

as described in subsection (2)(m) or (n) of this section.

     FURTHER, AMEND the title on line 3 by inserting before the semicolon the following:

AND TO REVISE THE DEFINITION OF A DEATH AFFECTING THE PUBLIC INTEREST
