Senate Resolution 72

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING BRAD AND LUANNE BROOKS FOR BEING SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE MISSISSIPPI JAYCEES/JOHN DEERE OUTSTANDING YOUNG FARMER AWARD FOR 2002 AND AS ONE OF THE NATIONAL JAYCEES/JOHN DEERE OUTSTANDING FARMERS FOR 2002.

     WHEREAS, Brad and Luanne Brooks were honored by being selected to receive the Mississippi Jaycees/John Deere Outstanding Young Farmer Award for 2002 and the National Jaycees/John Deere Outstanding Young Farmer Award for 2002; and

     WHEREAS, Brad and Luanne live in Water Valley, Mississippi, which is located in Yalobusha County, and are the proud parents of three children and grandparents of one child; and

     WHEREAS, this amazing couple farms 960 acres of cotton, both no-till and ultra-narrow row, and has led Yalobusha County in cotton yields for the past several years; and

     WHEREAS, this couple has received other honors, including being named the Mississippi Farm Bureau Outstanding Young Farmer of 1995; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to farming, the Brooks remain active in the community by serving on the Yalobusha County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the Yalobusha County Soil and Water Commission, members of the 4-H and Agriculture Extension Advisory Committees,  members of the Sylvarena Baptist Church and as Coaches for Water Valley Park and Recreation; and

     WHEREAS, it is with pride that we pay tribute to citizens like Brad and Luanne Brooks who symbolize hard work and community dedication in Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate Brad and Luanne Brooks for being selected as Mississippi's Jaycees/John Deere Outstanding Young Farmer for 2002 and as one of the National Jaycees/John Deere Outstanding Farmers for 2002.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Brad and Luanne Brooks and be made available to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
