A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING "BISHOP LARRY E. CRUMP DAY" IN AMORY, MISSISSIPPI, AND COMMENDING THE CHARITABLE AND PUBLIC SERVICE OF BISHOP LARRY E. CRUMP.

     WHEREAS, March 15, 2003, marks the celebration of "Bishop Larry E. Crump Day" at Victory Temple Outreach Ministry in Amory, Mississippi, which recognizes Bishop Larry E. Crump as the outstanding leader and role model of his church and community; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump is the son of the late Archie and Willie Mae Crump.  He is married to Evangelist Evelyn E. Crump, and they are the proud parents of 3 children, Theodore Crump, Steven Crump and Sandra Crump; and 4 grandchildren, Yesyasmine Taylor, Currsandra Brandon, Cassandra Brandon and Justin Martin; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump attended the Amory School System and the North Houston Trade School in Houston, Texas, where he received a Degree in Electronics Technology.  He received an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Letters from the Morris and Booker Memorial College in Dermott, Arkansas, and received a diploma from the St. Stephens Christian School in Los Angeles, California; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump is the President of the West Amory Ministerial Association and a Board Member of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump served as Youth Pastor for 9 years at the Rock of Salvation Holiness Church in Houston, Texas, before returning home to Amory, Mississippi.  In 1982, he founded and chartered Victory Temple Holiness Church and Outreach Ministry.  He has been the presiding Bishop and Pastor for the past 20 years and will continue to do so until his work for the Lord is complete; and

     WHEREAS, under Bishop Larry E. Crump's leadership, several churches have been added to the ministry:  Victory Temple Outreach #2, Detroit, Michigan; Living Word of God Outreach Ministry, West Point, Mississippi; Lively Stones Outreach Ministry, Dallas, Texas; Faith in God Outreach Ministry, Fairfield, Texas; Light of the World Outreach Ministry, Gardena, California; Prayer Revival Center, Houston, Texas; and True Word Church of Amory, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump can be heard every Sunday morning on WAMY 1580 AM Radio Station in Amory, Mississippi, and on Sunday nights on WCD39 Channel 15 in Fulton, Mississippi.  Through these broadcasts, the lives of many have been delivered; and

     WHEREAS, it all began March 15, 1997, during the ministries Annual State Convention when Mayor Thomas Griffith declared that to honor the leadership and integrity of this Pastor, this day would always be known as "Bishop Larry E. Crump Day" in the City of Amory, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump reaches out not only to the people of this community, but to the surrounding cities and counties.  During the storm that destroyed homes in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Bishop Larry E. Crump sent truckloads of food to those who lost their homes.  Each month his ministry feeds 400-500 people in Mississippi and sends food to pantries in Mexico and other states, feeding more than 3,000 families; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump, along with the other pastors of the West Amory Ministerial Association, led a campaign against drugs in the community, letting the youth know the dangers of the usage and the illegality of selling drugs in this community; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop Larry E. Crump is a man of God whose leadership and public service brings honor to the church, the community and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize "Bishop Larry E. Crump Day" in Amory, Mississippi, and commend the outstanding charitable, public leadership and service of this individual whose work serves as an inspiration to all citizens.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Bishop Larry E. Crump and his congregation and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
