A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF NICK A. MAVAR, SR., AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Mavar departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2003; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Mavar was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and a member of the Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral Catholic Church; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Mavar was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Mavar was a partner in the Mavar Shrimp and Oyster Company; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Mavar was widely known for his strong work ethic; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Mavar was active in the seafood industry and served in the American Shrimp Processing Association, Empire Menhaden Company, Inc., Pet Food Institute and the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce; and

     WHEREAS, the legacy and memory of Mr. Nick Mavar will live on in the lives of those who knew, loved and respected him, especially his surviving family:  sons and daughters-in-law, Nick Mavar, Jr., and wife, Nancy; Michael Mavar and wife, Dianne; brother, Victor Mavar; grandchildren, Amanda Mavar Schmidt, Michael Mavar, Jr., Matthew Mavar and Melissa Mavar; and great-grandchildren, Lindsey Schmidt, Sumerlin Schmidt and Skylar Mavar; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate of the State of Mississippi to commend the lives and contributions of outstanding Mississippians as Mr. Nick Mavar, whose contributions bettered his community and the state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Nick Mavar and express our deepest sympathy to his family.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mr. Nick Mavar.
