A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF GOVERNMENTAL PURCHASING AND ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP AND CONTRIBUTION TO THE TRAINING AND CONTINUING EDUCATION OF PROCUREMENT PROFESSIONALS.

     WHEREAS, the mission of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing is to enhance public procurement, promote the profession and preserve the public trust by providing expertise, direction and leadership for members and other stakeholders; and

     WHEREAS, the vision of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing is to be the global leader in public procurement and the benchmark for excellence in the public procurement profession; and

     WHEREAS, the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing provides invaluable services to its members and the public procurement profession through quality educational seminars, its Annual Forum and Products Exposition, its certification programs and its publications on best procurement practices; and

     WHEREAS, the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing provides support to the public procurement profession through the Public Procurement Research Center in the development of research tools, sponsorship of the Journal of Public Procurement and development of training programs; and

     WHEREAS, through its Procurement Assistance Management Program, the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing offers its members audit and consulting services which assists members in their efforts to achieve excellence in public purchasing; and

     WHEREAS, the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing is the largest not-for-profit educational association devoted exclusively to public procurement agencies in the United States, Canada and other nations:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and welcome the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing and its board of directors to the State of Mississippi and recognize their considerable contributions to the field of public procurement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
