A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE REVEREND DR. JAMES E. WARREN ON THE OCCASION OF HIS INSTALLATION AS PASTOR OF HOLY TEMPLE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH IN JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, on Sunday, January 26, 2003, the Reverend Dr. James E. Warren will be installed as Pastor of Holy Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Warren is a graduate of Jackson State University where he majored in Criminal Justice, he spent 7 years in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Military Police and 7 years in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in the Security Police, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Mississippi Baptist Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, his Masters of Biblical Studies from Fields Bible Institute and Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee, his Doctor of Divinity from American Institute of Theology in Memphis, Tennessee, and his Doctor of Ministry from American Institute of Theology in Memphis, Tennessee; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Warren accepted his call to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, was ordained on November 27, 1987, at Greater Mt. Sinai Missionary Church in Jackson, Mississippi, and began service as Assistant Pastor of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, followed by 9 years of service as Senior Pastor of Greater Richmond Grove Missionary Baptist Church, followed by 10 years of service as Senior Pastor of Triumph Missionary Baptist Church; and

     WHEREAS, he began his ministry with special emphasis placed on youth and teen ministry of the church, then expanded his call to provide a shepherd's care for all members of the church, including singles, the elderly and community outreach programs; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Warren's mission is to be instrumental in preparing our youth for today's society, both spiritually, intellectually and physically for a productive adult life and to help them recognize and fulfill their potential; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this Mississippi citizen whose civic and religious leadership brings honor to his church, his community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Reverend Dr. James E. Warren on the occasion of his installation as Pastor of Holy Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, and extend to him and his family the best wishes of the Senate.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Warren and his family, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
