A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING GEORGE SPINKS FOR HIS ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND FOR HIS EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP AS PRESIDENT OF THE PHI THETA KAPPA CHAPTER AT EAST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, George Spinks, a sophomore at East Mississippi Community College, was selected as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic Team; and

     WHEREAS, George Spinks maintained a 4.0 grade point average in 2002 and 2003; and

     WHEREAS, George Spinks was a Golden Key Award Winner in 2003 and an All-USA Academic Team Nominee in 2003; and

     WHEREAS, George Spinks made the President's List in 2002 and 2003 and the "National Dean's List" in 2002 and 2003; and

     WHEREAS, in recognition of his leadership ability, George Spinks was selected as the President of the Student Government Association at East Mississippi Community College; and

     WHEREAS, George Spinks was also chosen as President of the Eta Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at East Mississippi Community College; and

     WHEREAS, under the leadership of George Spinks, the Eta Upsilon Chapter attained a Five-Star Phi Theta Kappa Chapter rating, the first in the 75-year history of East Mississippi Community College; and

     WHEREAS, the impressive intellect, effective leadership, and commitment to excellence of George Spinks has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and the faculty at East Mississippi Community College; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend the academic accomplishments and leadership of the youth of the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend George Spinks for his academic accomplishments and for his leadership of the Phi Theta Kappa Chapter at East Mississippi Community College.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to George Spinks.
