Senate Concurrent Resolution 577

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. REX MOAK FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Rex Moak, a resident of Moss Point, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Rex Moak, a Physics/Chemistry Instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past five years and has taught for the past 12 years; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Rex Moak received his Bachelor of Science degree from Millsaps College, and his Master of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Rex Moak has served as Judicial Committee Chairman, Technology Council Appointee, Advertisement and Recruitment Committee Member, and Instructional Affairs Council Appointee for the Jackson County Campus; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Rex Moak implemented and taught pilot programs for Advanced Placement Biology and Advanced Placement Chemistry, was selected as Mississippi Economic Council Star Teacher, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and received the Tandy Technology Scholars National Outstanding Science Teacher Award; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Rex Moak published "Supplemental Curriculum Development Group at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College" and "Physical Science Survey I:  Analysis Of An Online Lab-Based Science Course"; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such outstanding teachers as Mr. Rex Moak, who has dedicated his career to teaching the young people of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Rex Moak for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to him our heartiest wishes of success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution are furnished to Mr. Rex Moak and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
