Senate Concurrent Resolution 524

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PRENTISS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL "SAINTS" FOOTBALL TEAM AND COACH DAN FAILS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2002 SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the Prentiss Christian School "Saints" Football Team completed the 2002 Regular Season with an outstanding 12-2 record and was runner-up in the Class A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Saints won the District 4 Class A Championship and the South Regional Class A Championship on their way to the state overall playoff; and

     WHEREAS, the following outstanding players on the 2002 team earned individual honors:  named All-District were Shane Fortenberry, Nick Daley, Riggin Lott, Will Hathorn, Preston Pierce, Tyler Polk, Sam Waters, Zack Powell, Josh Davis, Erik Waller, Simon Martin, Brandon Fortenberry and Brandon McNease; named District MVP was Shane Fortenberry; named District Co-MVP and Hattiesburg All-Metro was Nick Daley; and

     WHEREAS, the 2002 edition of the Prentiss "Saints" Football Team was ably led by Coach Dan Fails and Assistant Coaches Paul Mooney, Larry Waters and Bubba Reynolds, who emphasized fundamentals in their team's preparation; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Prentiss Christian School "Saints" Football Team and Coach Dan Fails for their outstanding 2002 season and runner-up achievement in the State Class A Championship, and wish them continued success in their future academic and athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Fails and the Headmaster of Prentiss Christian on behalf of the team, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
