House Resolution 74

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE KOSSUTH HIGH SCHOOL LADY AGGIES GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2003 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the Kossuth High School Lady Aggies Softball Team finished the 2003 season with a great record of 29-8; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Aggies experienced many triumphs during their season, finishing as a runner-up in the State Championship, winning the North State Championship, the Alcorn County and the Kossuth Round Robin Championships; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Aggies were marvelously coached and inspired by Head Coach Alan Wood, Assistant Coaches Lisa Wood, Charla Palmer and Steve Lyles, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the coaching staff has brought additional honor to itself and to Kossuth High School by being selected as the Division I Class 3A Coaching Staff of the Year; and

WHEREAS, several of the Lady Aggies have been recognized for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season, including: Ashley Jones as the Most Valuable Player; Latasha Jo Essary, Mary Allison Potts, Jenna Dixon, Anna Lyles, Kayla Kyle and Mary Deaton to the All-Division Team; Ashley Jones as Most Valuable Player, Latasha Jo Essary, Mary Allison Potts, Jenna Dixon, Danielle Ingram, Courtney Mask and Anna Lyles to the All-County Team; Ashley Jones as Player of the Year, Latasha Jo Essary, Jenna Dixon, Anna Lyles, Dani Wood, Mary Deaton and Kayla Kyle to the Daily Journal All-Area Team; Ashley Jones, Latasha Jo Essary, Mary Allison Potts and Jenna Dixon to the All-State Team; Ashley Jones, Latasha Jo Essary and Anna Lyles to the All-State Tournament Team; and the naming of Ashley Jones as a player in the All-Star Game; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Aggies have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a superb degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring great honor to Kossuth High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Kossuth High School Lady Aggies Girls Softball Team for their outstanding 2003 season.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kossuth High School, Coach Alan Wood, Assistant Coaches Lisa Wood, Charla Palmer and Steve Lyles and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
