A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE KEITH MONTGOMERY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Representative Keith Montgomery has served the citizens of House District 74, Hinds County, Mississippi, for 10 years; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery, born in Natchez, attended Jefferson County High School in Fayette, Mississippi, and Sewanee Military Academy in Sewanee, Tennessee; and

     WHEREAS, in 1974, Representative Montgomery received a bachelor's degree in marketing and sales management with a minor in accounting from the University of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery, currently serving as an Inspector General, was a Master Sergeant in the United States Army National Guard and has served 31 years as a Senior Military Police Instructor; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery has worked for American Home Products - Food Division; owner of Executive Benefits, a group health insurance agency; general manager for Corr-Williams Company, a convenience store wholesale supplier; and currently works as a mortgage broker and insurance consultant; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery's strong leadership abilities were recognized when he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Insurance Committee; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery currently serves on the Insurance, Conservation and Water Resources, Juvenile Justice, Military Affairs and Municipalities Committees; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to serving in the State Legislature, Representative Montgomery served two terms as City Alderman for the City of Clinton for Ward 4; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his career, Representative Montgomery has received numerous honors and awards, including being named to Who's Who in American Politics; Who's Who in American Business; Who's Who in the World; Who's Who in the South and Southwest; the 1985 Outstanding Young Man of America; and the 1982 Outstanding Young Man of Clinton; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery has been an active member of his community and served various organizations, such as:  the Clinton Kiwanis Club, where he served as past president; Clinton Chamber of Commerce, where served as a former board member; former Scoutmaster of Troop 88 at Clinton First United Methodist Church; former PTA Board at Sumner Hill School; former member of the Administrative Board for First United Methodist Church; former member of the Board of Directors for the Jackson Association of Health Underwriters; former member of the Central Mississippi EMT Board of Directors and former Vice President of the Clinton Jaycees; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his wife, the former Joan Bishop, a long-time public school teacher; and their children, Keith, Jr., Mason and Brenton; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Montgomery's congenial nature, constructive attitude and forthright manner have had a positive influence on all those who have had the pleasure of working with this highly respected member of the House:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and express our deepest appreciation to Representative Keith Montgomery for his outstanding contributions to the legislative process and the people of the State of Mississippi and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Keith Montgomery and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
