A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REVEREND GUY REEDY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, Reverend Guy Reedy, a resident of Water Valley, Mississippi, has dedicated many years of outstanding service to the people of his community; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from Aberdeen High School, Reverend Reedy attended Mississippi College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his long and distinguished career, Reverend Reedy has served as pastor of several Mississippi churches including:  First Baptist Church in Water Valley for almost 23 years; Highland Baptist Church in Laurel for 12 years; Ruleville Baptist Church in Ruleville for eight years; First Baptist Church in Sardis for three years; and several other churches; and

     WHEREAS, during his long tenure as pastor, Reverend Reedy has preached more than 7,000 messages, preached almost 500 funerals and performed more than 300 weddings; and

     WHEREAS, Reverend Reedy has been actively involved in many denominational services such as Moderator of the Panola, Sunflower, Jones and Yalobusha Associations; president of several pastor's conferences; and several mission revivals in Washington, Utah and Wyoming; and

     WHEREAS, in addition, Reverend Reedy has served for more than 40 years as a Board Member of the Baptist Children's Village, an affiliate of the Mississippi Baptist Convention; and

     WHEREAS, Reverend Reedy is responsible for developing the Reedy Acres Campus, which was built in 1982 as a satellite campus of the Baptist Children's Village located in Water Valley and has the capacity to accommodate 36 children and house parents; and

     WHEREAS, Reverend Reedy has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his wife of almost 50 years, the former Doris Spencer; their three children, Millard, Stephen and Gloria; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding service as evidenced by Reverend Reedy, who has dedicated his life to meeting the spiritual needs of so many people in this state and especially the citizens of Water Valley:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do commend Reverend Guy Reedy for his many years of outstanding service and express our heartiest appreciation for his many contributions to improving the quality of life for those people of Water Valley.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Reverend Guy Reedy and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
