A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING BERTIE JOHNSON FOR BEING SELECTED AS TEACHER OF THE YEAR FOR THE JACKSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

     WHEREAS, Bertie Johnson of Hurley, Mississippi, was recently selected as the Teacher of the Year for the Jackson County School District, which automatically makes her a nominee for the State Teacher of the Year award; and

     WHEREAS, a teacher at East Central High School, Ms. Johnson was chosen out of a field of 15 educators for the Teacher of the Year honor; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson has been educating students for 29 years and she is currently over the Functional Math and Living Skills classes; and

     WHEREAS, a dedicated educator, Ms. Johnson has made outstanding contributions to the field of education in the State of Mississippi, and she loves teaching so much that she does not feel like it is work; and

     WHEREAS, the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi wishes to recognize and pay special tribute to a remarkable educator, Bertie Johnson, who continues to provide outstanding educational leadership to the youth of our state in the public schools of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend Bertie Johnson for her selection as Teacher of the Year for the Jackson County School District and for her exceptional contributions to the field of education in the State of Mississippi, and we extend to her our best wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Bertie Johnson, East Central High School and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
