A RESOLUTION TO AMEND RULE 69 OF THE HOUSE RULES TO REVISE THE MANNER OF CALLING ROLL WHEN MEMBERS HAVE THE SAME SURNAME.

     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That Rule 69 of the 2000-2004 Rules of the House of Representatives is amended as follows:

     "69.  Upon every roll call the names of the members shall be called alphabetically by surname, except when two (2) or more have the same surname, in which case the house district numbers shall be called in ascending order, and after the roll has been once called, the Clerk shall call in their alphabetical order the names of those not voting; and thereafter the Speaker shall not entertain a request to record a vote or announce a pair; and the yeas and nays on any question shall be entered on the Journal, at the request of one-tenth (1/10) of the members present; and the yeas and nays shall be entered on the Journal on the final passage of every bill."
