A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF DUANE E. WALHOOD AND EXPRESSING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Duane E. Walhood, born March 19, 1925, in Aneta, North Dakota, and a graduate of Aneta High School and the University of North Dakota, departed this life on February 10, 2003; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Walhood, a retired sales manager for Five Star Manufacturing Company in Clarksdale, Mississippi, was a Navy veteran of World War II, an active member of the American Legion Post 28, 40 & 8 Voiture 973, the Clarksdale Masonic Lodge and Wahabi Temple of the Shrine in Jackson; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Walhood, a Christian and one of God's servants, was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksdale, serving as deacon and elder, as a member of its Raymond Bible Class, as a member of the choir and as a member of the Presbyterian Day School Board; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Walhood is survived by his beloved wife, Mavis, four sons, Steve, Bradley, Randy and Brian, and six grandchildren:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Mr. Duane E. Walhood and express our sincere sympathy to his family and many friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Walhood and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
