House Concurrent Resolution 130

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING OMARR CONNER FOR HIS OUTSTANDING HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CAREER.

     WHEREAS, Omarr Conner, a resident of Macon, Mississippi, has had an outstanding high school football career; and

     WHEREAS, a senior at Noxubee County High School, Mr. Conner has contributed to the Noxubee County Tigers' success, under the guidance of Coach M.C. Miller, by dynamically playing the position of quarterback; and

     WHEREAS, during his senior year, Omarr Conner, accounted for a total of 4,146 yards and a state-record 54 touchdowns and has  an astounding 9,506 total yards, and 110 touchdowns over his four seasons, which includes 6,599 passing yards and 59 touchdown passes while at Noxubee County High School; and

     WHEREAS, Omarr Conner has been bestowed with several titles including being named Mr. Football on the Clarion-Ledger All-State team, named to the Clarion-Ledger's Dandy Dozen as one of the state's top 12 prospects prior to his senior season and named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super Southern 100, which is a list of the top 100 players in the South; and

     WHEREAS, additional titles have been given to Mr. Conner, including being named first-team, all-state at the quarterback position by the Clarion-Ledger and being named by the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year, Region 2-4A most valuable player and first-team, all-state in that division; and

     WHEREAS, due to his outstanding athletic abilities, Mr. Conner has received several rankings, including being ranked as No. 5 out of the state's 40 best recruits by the Clarion-Ledger,  ranked as the No. 13 quarterback prospect in the country on ESPN.Com by Tom Lemming, a recruiting analyst, and he was listed among the top 30 quarterbacks in the nation by Phil Grosz in the preseason G&W Recruiting Report, and twice ranked by PrepStar Magazine among the top 10 quarterbacks in the Southeast and as the No. 7 player overall in the state in its season-ending all-America issue; and

     WHEREAS, Omarr Conner has developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a superb degree of sportsmanship, and his athletic abilities and attitude reflect great credit upon his coaches and bring great honor to Noxubee County High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when shown by a young individual of our state such as Omarr Conner, who is its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Omarr Conner for his outstanding football career and wish him much success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Omarr Conner, Noxubee County High School and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
