House Concurrent Resolution 123

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING JOE BRADSHAW ON HIS OUTSTANDING COACHING CAREER FOR OVER FORTY YEARS.

     WHEREAS, Coach Joe Bradshaw, who has coached football, baseball and basketball and is a member of the Mississippi Coaches' Hall of Fame and has been a superb coach for over 40 years; and

     WHEREAS, a native of Macon, Mississippi, Coach Bradshaw received a bachelor of science degree from Mississippi State University in 1961 and a master in education from Delta State University in 1977; and

     WHEREAS, during his early coaching years, from 1960-1971, Coach Bradshaw caused each football team he coached to win various titles, and he also earned titles such as Coach of the Year at schools in Aliceville, Alabama, Noxubee County, Mississippi, and North Panola, Mississippi, respectively; and

     WHEREAS, after coaching in North Panola, Coach Bradshaw began coaching for Strider Academy in 1972, where he has been head coach for the Rams for 31 years and a headmaster for 30 years; and

     WHEREAS, during his career at Strider Academy, Coach Bradshaw has led the Rams to numerous titles, including State A Champions, North Central A Champions and District 2A Champions, and he has been named Coach of the Year many times and has had the honor of serving as a Mississippi Private School Association's All-Star assistant coach and coach; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Bradshaw has reached a number of milestones as the Rams' football coach, such as achieving his 100th win in 1981, his 200th win in 1993, and his 300th career win in 1998 for which he was listed in The National High School Sports Record Book; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to splendid coaching, Coach Bradshaw also has made several professional contributions, including being a clinic speaker for several colleges, being on the Board of Directors of Mississippi Coaches Association and has been very active in the Mississippi Private School Association; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize an accomplished coach, such as Coach Joe Bradshaw, who has inspired players and has brought great credit to each school he has coached for:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend and congratulate Coach Joe Bradshaw for his outstanding  and extensive coaching career and wish him continued success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Joe Bradshaw and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
