House Concurrent Resolution 101

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING COACH JAMES WASHINGTON FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, Coach James Washington, the Head Basketball Coach at Coahoma Community College, has devoted 29 years to coaching at both the high school and college levels; and

     WHEREAS, in 1974, Coach Washington began his career at Coahoma Agricultural High School and Coahoma Community College; and

     WHEREAS, during the 2002-2003 basketball season, Coach Washington celebrated his 600th victory in men's basketball with a win over Meridian; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his long and distinguished coaching career, Coach Washington has influenced many young athletes, many of whom have earned their college degrees, 27 have become coaches and three have become medical doctors; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians such as Coach Washington, who has dedicated his life to educating and coaching young people of this state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Coach James Washington for his many years of outstanding service and express our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach James Washington and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
