House Concurrent Resolution 90

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING CLARKSDALE HIGH SCHOOL FOR BEING AWARDED THE 2001-2002 MISSISSIPPI TECH PREP EXEMPLARY SITE.

WHEREAS, each year, Mississippi's fifteen community and junior colleges recognize outstanding secondary school sites in their Tech Prep consortia; and

WHEREAS, all sites are given the opportunity to apply as the Consortium Tech Prep Exemplary Site, but only one can be chosen from each of the fifteen community/junior colleges; and

WHEREAS, these fifteen exemplary applications are then submitted to the Mississippi Department of Education Tech Prep Office for consideration as the Mississippi Tech Prep Exemplary Site for the year; and

WHEREAS, this year's recipient of the Mississippi's Tech Prep Exemplary Site award is Clarksdale High School, which is from the Coahoma Community College Tech Prep Consortium; and

WHEREAS, Clarksdale High School's "Wildcat Ecopond" is an outstanding example of developing community and business/industry involvement while providing an opportunity for creative integration projects between disciplines; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by a high school like Clarksdale High School, which seeks to prepare students for the workplace of the twenty-first century:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Clarksdale High School for being awarded the 2001-2002 Tech Prep Exemplary Site winner.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Clarksdale High School and the Capitol Press Corps.
