House Concurrent Resolution 89

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING WARREN JOSEPH NORTON AND LORRAINE OLSEN NORTON UPON THE CELEBRATION OF THEIR 60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON OCTOBER 28, 2002.

WHEREAS, Warren Joseph Norton and Lorraine Olsen Norton, both natives of New Orleans, Louisiana, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 28, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Warren Norton, the son of the late Raymond and Mabel Deimel Norton, was born on October 25, 1923, and Lorraine, the daughter of the late Albert and Isabel Tully Olsen, was born on August 31, 1926; and

WHEREAS, after meeting in New Orleans in 1941, Warren and Lorraine Norton were united in holy matrimony on October 28, 1942; and

WHEREAS, shortly after Lorraine gave birth to their first child, Elizabeth Ann, Warren enlisted in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Warren was a loyal patriot and brave soldier as he fought during World War II, serving in France and Belgium before returning home in December 1945; and

WHEREAS, on November 15, 1946, Lorraine and Warren welcomed their second child, Warren, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Warren was a civilian employee of the Department of Defense with over 39 years of service and retired in 1983 while Lorraine worked for the Oschner Clinic in New Orleans for 13 years, retiring in 1976; and

WHEREAS, following their retirement, Warren and Lorraine moved to Waveland, Mississippi, where they are active members of their church and community; and

WHEREAS, Warren and Lorraine are the proud grandparents of three grandchildren, Todd Stephen, Christian Johan and Chad Christopher and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Alen, Gabriele Paris and Austin Martin; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend devotion and family values, especially when evidenced by the love and commitment Warren and Lorraine Norton have shared for so many years:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Warren Joseph Norton and Lorraine Olsen Norton upon the celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary on October 28, 2002, and express our heartiest wishes for success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Warren and Lorraine Norton and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
